Smelting and processing technology of ASTM Corten A weathering steel plate

ASTM Corten A weathering steel plate is mainly used in highway and bridge engineering construction. Because of the corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy element, it has excellent air corrosion resistance compared with ordinary bridge steel. Thickness ≤150mm are structural thick steel plates for highway bridges, those with thickness ≤25.4mm are alloy structural steel strips and cut thick steel plates for highway bridges, and those with thickness ≤40mm are structural channel steels for highway bridges.

ASTM Corten A weathering steel plate generally use refined materials into the furnace-smelting (coke oven, heating furnace-fine crystal strengthening solution-blowing-LF refining-low hydrogen pressure rolled steel (feeding Greek soil wire)-controlled rolling and controlled cooling and other processing processes.

When ASTM Corten A weathering steel plate is smelted, the waste steel is added into the furnace along with the reheating waste, and smelted according to the basic processing technology. After the steel is tapped, deoxidizer and aluminum alloy are added. The molten iron is built into a billet by a continuous casting machine. Because of the addition of rare earth elements to the ASTM Corten A weathering steel plate, the weathering steel sheet is cleaned and the components of impurities are greatly reduced.
