Corten A steel is the weather resistant steel created by alloying copper, chromium and nickel. In addition to this, Corten A steel has added phosphorous which makes the material best suited for gas flue applications and for aesthetic facias. The corten a material is not recommended in heavy load bearing applications.
ASTM CortenB is used for various types of welded, bolted and riveted constructions e.g. steel frame structures, building cladding, metal sculptures (Angel of the North), chimneys, bridges, tanks and containers, exhaust systems, vehicles and equipment constructions.
