Carbon steel is essentially an Fe-C alloy with a relatively simple chemical composition and contains a very small amount of elements such as Si, Mn, S and P. Weathering steel is a low-alloy steel that obtains better corrosion resistance than carbon steel in the atmosphere by adding a small amount of alloying elements (P, Cu, Cr and Ni, etc.), although the composition of carbon steel and weathering steel is different , the corrosion rate and corrosion morphology are often significantly different.
The carbon steel selected for the BBN experiment is Q235 and 45# steel, and the weathering steel is Corten A. Among them, the Q235 and 45# steel samples were processed from 3 mm plates, and the Corten A samples were processed from 6 mm plates. The on-site exposure samples were pickled surfaces, and the samples were prepared according to the standard GB/T 6464-1997. .
The size of the sample Corten A for weight loss analysis is 100 mm×50 mm, and the size of the sample for rust layer analysis is 10 mm×10 mm. All Corten A samples were scrubbed with acetone, dehydrated with alcohol and placed in a desiccator. After 24 hours, the sample of Corten A was weighed with an analytical balance, accurate to 0.1 mg.
