The engineering example of S355J0W weathering steel

S355J0W weathering steel, that is, atmospheric corrosion resistant steel, is a low alloy steel series between ordinary steel and stainless steel. S355J0W weathering steel is made from common carbon steel with a small amount of copper, nickel and other corrosion resistant elements. It has the characteristics of high quality steel such as strength, plastic casting, forming, welding, abrasion, high temperature and fatigue resistance.
The weatherability of S355J0W weathering steel is 2~8 times that of normal carbon steel, and the coating ability is 1.5~10 times that of normal carbon steel.
At the same time, S355J0W weathering steel has rust resistance, so that the corrosion resistance of components prolong life, reduce the consumption, energy-saving features.

1. S355J0W weathering steel can reduce the maintenance cost of steel structure and provide a new solution to the problem of fire prevention and corrosion of exposed unprotected steel structure, such as high voltage tower.
The fabrication and installation process of S355J0W weathering steel is basically the same as that of conventional steel, and the design method is also the same as that of ordinary steel structure, but more tests and verification are needed.
