Corten B chemical details mainly contains C (max 0.16%),Si (0.3-0.5%),Mn (0.8-1.25%),P(max 0.03),S(max 0.03%),Cr(0.4-0.65%).Ni (max 0.4%),Cu(0.25-0.4%),V (0.02-0.10).

About Corten B mechanical properties , Corten B is according to ASTM standard which with the tensile strength of 470-630MPa. Under 16mm thickness, its minimum yield strength is 355 MPa. If the thickness is between 16mm and 50mm,the minimum yield strength is about 345 MPa. Besides, its elogation is above 20%. At room temperature for plates ≥3mm in thickness (transverse test specimans, according to EN 10002). Requirements to hot rolled plates ≤3mm in thickness according to EN 10025-5. Corten B weather-ability is about 3-8 times of common steel, and painting property is 1.5-10 higher than common steel. Besides, corten B can be use under reduction,exposure or simplified painted.

Based on chemical details and mechanical properties, ASTM CortenB is used for various types of welded, bolted and riveted constructions e.g. steel frame structures, building cladding, metal sculptures (Angel of the North), chimneys, bridges, tanks and containers, exhaust systems, vehicles and equipment constructions.
