BBN Research on S355J2WP weathering steel Surface Rust Layer Technology

The requirements for environmental protection of steel structure buildings are increasing at home and abroad, and the surface treatment technology of S355J2WP weathering steel should also be developed towards environmental friendliness. Therefore, BBN proposed an environmentally friendly S355J2WP weathering steel surface rust layer stabilization treatment technology using water as solvent and soluble salt as solute, and investigated the mechanism of the surface treatment solution on the rust layer stabilization process of S355J2WP weathering steel.

After experiments, it is proved that the surface treatment accelerates the initial corrosion rate of S355J2WP weathering steel, and can reduce its corrosion rate in the later corrosion process.

With the increase of corrosion time, the rust layer of surface-treated S355J2WP weathering steel is continuous and dense, and its thickness gradually increases, while the rust layer of untreated S355J2WP weathering steel has a large number of microcracks and holes in the cross section at the initial stage of corrosion.
