Two categories of tower equipment

The towers equipment are divided into two categories: plate tower equipment and packed tower equipment according to their structure.

The plate tower equipment is equipped with a certain number of trays, and the gas contacts the liquid layer on the trays in the form of bubbling or spraying for material transfer. According to the gas-liquid operating state, it can be divided into bubbling trays, such as float valves, bubble caps, sieve trays and other trays, and spraying trays, such as mesh and tongue-shaped trays. It can be divided into overflow tray (bubble cap, etc.) and through-flow type (through-flow grid and through-flow sieve, etc.) according to whether there is a downcomer.

The packed tower equipment is equipped with a certain height of packing. The liquid flows from top to bottom along the packing, and the gas is in countercurrent contact with the liquid film from bottom to top to carry out material transfer.

Packed tower equipment is often used in operations such as distillation, water absorption, and extraction. According to the structural characteristics, it can be divided into random packing (particle packing such as step ring and Pall ring) and regular packing (mesh corrugated packing and corrugated packing).
